Would definitely like to hear something…. It’s only been 6+ years

Is there a number to somewhere we can call. I literally just paid $800 for new tires because of this street

We tried collecting years ago to no avail. After years of dealing with this, it’s frustrating with the broken promises. (Example: 2 to 4 weeks) I have kept every email and text I sent to them and the reply I received.

I’m going to try calling and emailing as well. My parents live on this street and it’s extremely difficult navigating this street especially in the winter. It’s just a never ending cycle of pot holes & patches that never last more than a day or two before needing to be patched. If I had more time I’d be posting pictures of every pothole daily. It’s ridiculous it’s been this long with no reply. I’m trying to do my part here as well!

Cars speed down this road quite often and lose control during the winter months. We’ve had one car over turned on my neighbors front lawn and several cars in the ditch. When you call the police about the speeders, they come out, issue, one ticket then takeoff

The sad part is we understand we have to pay for the road and we still can’t get it done. There are more people for the road than against, at least when we sign the last petition years ago.

We've been more then patient. Feels like we just keep getting swept under the rug. For such a great city, they're word doesn't seem to hold much water. We've been told "its in the works" for way too many years. We woukd appreciate some movement like we were told was happening all along.

Such a shame that it’s been this long, we had heard before my parents moved in that the pavement was in the works and was one of the reasons they decided to still move in, 5 years later and it’s still gravel and dirt and we just get a patch and calcium chloride every week or so. I don’t understand why they can have someone come out almost weekly to patch but can’t spare a crew to come out and finish it up it would take less than week for only 1/2 of the street!

I have not! The road is full of pot holes again!

No updates I’ve tried calling and get no where.

Same here. I have somebody else looking into it. More information to follow in a flyer going out to neighborhood in a week.

Still no response on upgrading Gardner St E gravel road to asphalt. In 6/21 23 l got a reply from Brent Bashaw that in 2 to 4 weeks that I would get a response. Now it's 9/14/24 and still no update and waiting patiently for a response.

Well now it's been 6 months since I posted this comment and still there has been no response from our elected officials. As you see there has been many comments, so I want everyone that watch this post to remember how the people in charge are not being transparent on this matter and remember this on voting day.

I’ll remember. It’s all over Facebook and been shared many times over. My neighbors been in contact with problems solvers.
City of Sterling Heights mayor obviously has his own agenda that’s more important!

Happy new year to my fellow neighbors and friends! Well it's 2024 and still no response about updating our road. It would be nice if someone in the Sterling Heights office would send some type of response on what's going on our road upgrade, asphalt would be the cheapest way to go like they did on Gardner Street connected to Ryan which was completed a few years ago.

So now it's been 210 days since I posted about the status on our gravel road being upgraded to blacktop road. I guess nobody really responds to these messages. Am I the only one that would like to know about the future plans on our road?

No you’re not the only one, I have reached out several times and had no luck. My car hit a pot hole in the street again yesterday and it rattled my entire car! Ridiculous that we get the run around!

I am in receipt of your inquiry regarding the project status of Gardner Street East paving. I understand your frustration and apologize for the delay in this project. I want to let you know up front that we are committed to moving forward with the steps necessary to complete this project. In the recent years we have navigated the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequently the Innovate Mound project impacting the timeliness of this project. Today you may have noticed Engineering staff onsite surveying the work completed at the intersection by the Innovate Mound Project to enable the completion of the Gardner Street design. The work completed at the Mound Road intersection reduced the scope of the Gardner project and thus substantially reduced the cost to residents. The design of the project is complete aside from the slight amendment needed at Mound Road. The remaining steps include holding the necessary public hearings, creating the preliminary assessment roll for property costs, and to complete the bidding and award for construction as determined by the hearings. The Engineering Department met with our consultants last week discussing this project and planning the next steps. We are finalizing the schedule and will be providing a letter to all residents on Gardner Street within the next 30 days regarding the project timeline.

This is such a safety concern. The city has plenty of money but ignore the concerns we have on our street. Maybe it’s time to see if Help Me Hank can assist!?

FYI,
We’re hoping to see an update by months end per Jason Castors message above.
2024 marks the 8th year since we submitted a petition to have the road paved.
There are many neighbors for it as we had the majority (90%) 8 years ago although I’m not sure if we still do since many neighbors have moved.
We’ve been always told next year for the last 5-6 years or given an excuse from our original city contacts.
Jason is a new contact (Not sure if he took over) so we’ll see what happens by months end.
It’s been very frustrating.
