Description

There is need for a traffic calming device on 59th Street, between Stanford and San Pablo. Due to the length of the light at San Pablo and Stanford, vehicle traffic between these two main streets use 59th as a cut through, often speeding (despite speed humps), and ignoring the stop sign at Herzog and 59th. This is a residential street, with families including small children, a senior residential facility, a day care center, and many cyclists. Cut through traffic often passes other vehicle and bike traffic, speeds between speed humps, and ignores vehicles exiting and entering driveways, and sometimes includes very large trucks. A traffic calming device at either Herzog or Idaho would be extremely helpful in making 59th street a safer place for all of its residents.
