The trash can near the bus stop on the part of 14th Ave. that runs under the freeway to MacArthur is regularly overflowing with garbage. Lately, there has also been a minefield of dog feces littering the sidewalk. The entire sidewalk on the other side of the street is occupied by a tent shantytown, so one cannot just cross to the other side. There needs to be ONE usable sidewalk that runs under 580. Either ask the owner(s) of the tent shanties to reduce their footprint so that others can share the public walkway, or make sure that the sidewalk on the other side is always reasonably clean. People should not have to constantly tiptoe around feces and rotting garbage while passing from one side of 580 to the other.

The "[many kinds of lives] matter" lettering obscures traffic markings, making it difficult for cars to see the bike lane - and for cyclists to ensure that they are staying inside it. I ride by here 5x/week, and have to contend with oncoming vehicular traffic on a fairly regular basis. I think it would make this stretch of road much safer if you could find a way to ensure that the traffic markings are clearly visible. Thanks!

This derelict, city-owned building has been sitting empty for at least the 8+ years I have lived here. We are in the middle of a housing crisis; there is absolutely no excuse for its neglect. While walking around the neighborhood, I have personally encountered at least three private developers investigating the property. It would be very easy to find someone willing to turn this ugly waste of quality real estate into new housing. We just passed a parcel tax to discourage vacancies, yet--at least in the Bella Vista neighborhood--Oakland itself is the worst violator.

There is also graffiti here, on a regular basis. I don't care about the graffiti. I care that the city is using this massive building to house stray cats, instead of allowing someone to turn it into housing for PEOPLE.

    E. 18th Street is an unmitigated disaster between 8th Ave. and 4th Ave. Biking this stretch of road -- in either direction -- feels like riding over a gravel driveway. I'm honestly not sure where the potholes end and where the street begins. I've lived in places with far worse winter weather, and far lower taxes, and this is probably the single worst stretch of urban pavement I have ever traversed. It's even more tooth-rattling than the 18th Century cobblestones in Washington, DC. Please do something, soon! It's been like this for the seven years I've lived here, and it's only getting worse.
