  • 1805 Alan Lane Lansing, Michigan - Waverly

A severe ice storm impacted the greater Lansing region on Dec. 21 and 22. And this utility pole has been leaning heavily since that time. It's cracked and damaged -- and must be replaced. Calls were made to the Lansing Board of Water and Light on three know occasions. A technician even appeared to evaluate the damages, noting poles can lean 10 degrees and be OK.

This pole is beyond that threshold. Let's get it fixed so we won't have to endure another long-term outage like we encountered in December.

  • Holmes And S. Washington Lansing, MI - Lansing

The Green Leaf Clinic is not being a good neighbor. The establishment has re-erected their signs between the sidewalk and curb on the northwest corner of Homes and S. Washington. In fact, there are now more signs than ever.

Regardless of the business specialty, let's get these signs removed. It makes the area look blighted -- are we're trying hard to get this place cleaned up. And it looked nice without the signs.

(The attached file is a file photo, but the signs are the same.)

  • 3213 Stabler Lansing, MI - Lansing

The 2900-3300 block of Stabler is falling apart fast. In fact, the Old Everett Neighborhood Association (OENA) recently sent a letter to the Public Service Department about the need of fixing this stretch of road.

It doesn't help that the neighbor at 3213 Stabler -- a rental -- drives his semi tractor down our streets. In fact, this guy has also been known to have his tractor and trailer in tow down our streets, too. With the city budget tight and virtually no money available for road repair, we need to put a stop to this reckless behavior. The weight of a full-blown semi on a city street is a recipe for bad roads.

The semi tractor can be spotted parked next door at 3217 Stabler -- a recent foreclosure. The trailer is sometimes spotted in the former EDS parking lot in the 900 block of Holmes.

If it's legal to drive the semi tractor down a city street, then so be it. But this guy has been seen driving the full-blown semi down our streets.

  • Washington And Holmes Lansing, MI - Lansing

The Green Leaf Clinic has perpetually placed signs between the sidewalk and curb around Holmes and S. Washington Ave. For a low cost, and individual can "Get Legal."

Let's get these removed. Regardless of the shop's specialty, the signs are a violation and have been in this location for more than a year.

  • 335 W. Berry Lansing, MI - Lansing

335 W. Berry is a perpetual construction project. In the spring, neighbors were able to get this property red-tagged because of a lack of progress. The owner pulled the proper permits and started the work to get this home finished once and for all.

Six months have passed and construction has once again stalled. And the permits that were pulled in April have now expired, according to the city's website.

Let's get this home red-tagged again to show that the neighbors are not going to tolerate this lack of progress.

  • 511 W. Berry Lansing, MI - Lansing
If the city's website is correct, this home was cited in June for "Failure to Register" and this issue has not been resolved. It looks like it's up for rent again -- and we'd like to know if this home is registered.
  • 707 W. Holmes Lansing, MI - Lansing
If the city's website is correct, this home is not a registered rental. Please ensure this home is inspected and registered.
  • 3201 S. Washington Ave. Lansing, MI - Lansing

It's the same old story around town -- a foreclosure turns into a rental. But this story has some interesting twists.

3201 S. Washington is a HUD-owned home; however, it appears to have been rented out. Around September, I noticed there was a "For Rent" sign. Now there are tenants -- and they're using their lawn as a parking lot.

    Here are the issues:

A.) Let's figure out if a HUD-owned home can be rented. If so, then that's how it goes. It's odd that HUD can sell a home and then that buyer can immediately turn it around as a rental.

B.) Let's stop the lawn parking. It contributes to a blighted area.

    Thank you!

  • 2912 Stabler Lansing, MI - Lansing

This house is "For Rent" -- and it's a registered rental. But the problem lies next to the bushes.

If you look close in the photo, you'll see an old chair. This seat has been hanging around the property for weeks, with it being on the curb one week. Let's get this taken care of.

  • 215 Dunlap Lansing, MI - Lansing

There's nothing worse than finding out that most of your neighborhood homes are rentals, especially when the landlords and renters don't do a thing to maintain the property. There's no vested interest with renters.

This house looks nice, but don't be fooled or ghouled -- it was recently cited for weeds. According to the city's website, this home does not have a rental certificate. With the "For Rent" sign in the front yard, it's safe to say it's an unregistered rental.

  • Trash on Curb Archived
    410 W. Berry Lansing, MI - Lansing
A pile of branches, boards with nails, and a full trash bag has sat on the curb of 410 W. Berry for weeks. This rubbish poses a safety threat for kids nearby. Please help clean up our street!
  • 426 W Berry Ave Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing

426 W. Berry has been red-tagged since 2008. And every year it's the same old story, tall grass and unshoveled sidewalks. The city has repeatedly cited this house. Lately, someone came by and mowed the law, piling up the clippings behind the house for rodents to fester in.

Yesterday, a contractor's van was spotted backed in the driveway and the noises of construction could be heard inside. According to the city's website, no permits have been pulled for construction.

The construction is a sign of progress, but the homeowners on West Berry Avenue want to ensure that the owners of 426 W. Berry are constructing everything to code. We suspect this property is going to be rented soon, so we want to sure it is thoroughly inspected and registered.

  • 3228 Palmer St Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing

There are two homes on the same lot at 3228 and 3230 Palmer. There was some suspicion that the power had been turned off -- and the saw with the generator at 3230 confirmed that this is the case.

Bottom line: According to the city's website, no construction permit has been pulled. Additionally, there's no power at the home, making it ripe for a green tag.

    Please check this out.

  • 3322 Tenny St Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing
The both sides of Tenny between Berry and Holmes are seeing parking during football games. One side is clearly marked "No Parking." When people park on both sides of the road, it creates a dangerous situation, especially with the hill.
  • 3228 Palmer St Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing

3228 Palmer was quite the hot-button issue around seven months ago when former tenants left trash on the curb to rot for weeks. Animals chewed into the trash and polluted the street.

This property is back on our roaster for trash -- only this time it's on the front porch. It was also recently cited for uncut grass.

The owner of this property has a few other properties in the city of Lansing that flirt with uninhabitable (e.g., 804 LeGrand). Let's have him clean them up.

  • 222 Dunlap St Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing
222 W. Dunlap has seen better days. Neighbors say this house always has visitors allegedly coming and going, possibly showing the symptoms of a drug house. Two things are evident as fact, though: They park on the lawn daily and rent this house. 227 Astor and 222 W Dunlap and under LLCs, which all go back to the same address in East Lansing. Let's get this place straightened up.

Around 911 Vincent Court, there's a ton of trash all over near the Dumpsters. This area needs a good code compliance sweep. How can people live around this?

This house has a pile of trash by the garage, clearly visible from Palmer. I waited a little while thinking it may be temporary, but it's been rained on and has sat idle for more than a week.
