Description
Despite having a bike symbol in the middle of the road - this intersection is extremely dangerous for cyclists. The pavement is uneven (ridge) and there is a pinch-point for bikes when there is traffic stopped at the lights (which there usually is). Yesterday I was pushed off my bike into the sidewalk by a car - even though the car was in the middle of the travel lane and felt they were in the right place. Overall a poor design with three lanes with no serious allowance for the bike lane (I know this was only recently done to add a left-turn lane.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. This is being sent to DPW regarding the uneven surface. Regarding the use of the lane, at that point it is a shared travel lane, however changes are ongoing to create safe travel facilities for all road users.
Please keep informed of those plans by visiting our website: https://www.cambridgema.gov/streetsandtransportation/policiesordinancesandplans/cyclingsafetyordinance

There were not always 3 lanes for moving cars. The curb lane used to be for parking, with room for bikes next to that. Around 20 years ago they squeezed in a left turn lane by making the through lanes squeeze right.
Nobody is saying the right lane is currently exclusively for bikes. And there's no reason for cyclists to stay off any part of the road that isn't a bike lane, since all lanes allow bikes. Be careful what you ask for with poles. I'm sure this intersection will be much worse for everyone once the separated bike lanes go in.
