The city won’t do anything. We’ve been asking for over twenty years.

@rusty shackleford That's really sad to hear. Walkable cities are more liveable and financially stable. This deadly street is great place to start redesigning the city streets to be less car-centric and more mixed-use. It's a shame to see all these wide streets, like Lincoln, getting repaved without regard for traffic calming or separated bike paths. The street goes directly through neighborhoods and is very wide. It's simple a waste of space and creates dangerous, noisy neighborhoods. Cars don't need to go more than 30mph. And no one wants to walk or bike next to cars. There are already dedicated walking paths around Mountain Gate. Why doesn't the city expand these and connect them to canal paths? I understand this is a commuter town but that doesn't mean the streets should be deadly and lined with memorials. People dying from car crashes is preventable. It's like a modern-day form of human sacrifice. Kids should be able to walk home from school safely and the elderly and disabled should be able to travel independent of a car. Car dependency makes people poorer and it makes cities poorer.
