Description
After the pedestrian light is pushed and there is a walk signal, cars are making a left turn from Crossroads Blvd to Jones Franklin. They are not yielding to pedestrians crossing in the walkway, on Jones Franklin. Several times people including students almost have been hit. Cars are speeding or on cell phones when they are turning and not paying attention. This is a daily event.

Cars should follow the law by yielding to pedestrians, and there should be some enforcement here.
This is the point of the road where Crossroad Blvd ends, so almost all cars are making turn (few cars keep straight into the apartment complex).
A safe and sensible solution is to give cars a red light when a pedestrian pushes the button to cross. Cars legally should be stopped for the pedestrian anyway, but they often disregard the law. It is unsafe to give left-turning cars a green light when pedestrians have the walk signal. Since almost all cars are turning left, the traffic light should remain red when pedestrians have the walk signal.

I think the best solution is to give left-turning cars a red light when a pedestrian pushes the button to cross. Regardless, they are required by law to stop for the pedestrian.
But... isn't this in Raleigh city limits?

The cars are coming from Cary, but what matters is who's responsible for the intersection itself.
If it's Raleigh, then the city ought to respond here.
If it's Cary, they don't use SeeClickFix... here's their contact info...

Someone was just hit by a car at that intersection. We don't know if it was exactly the left turn issue mentioned here. I hope the person who was hit is okay.

I live in the apartment complex mentioned, The Enclave.
I see this issue daily. And not only is it unsafe for the pedestrians. (Most importantly)
But often times I have trouble safely getting through here myself. The cars turning left do not yield for anything, whether I'm turning right, or going straight from the apartment complex.
9 times out of 10, the drivers have been on their phones and not paying ANY attention. Since we can't monitor what people are doing while driving here, then something needs to change about the traffic light.

I have not had a chance to really study these lights but in an intersection I used to cross in Silver Spring Maryland, I noticed that the left turn light for the cars coincided with the pedestrian cross walk lights. We (the pedestrians) had to watch for oblivious drivers.
I am wondering if this is not the case here and if the lights cannot be adjusted to give pedestrians a safer crossing.
