I would like to report that on 9/25/2022, I witnessed the third solo bike crash on Tunnel Road between Charing Cross Rd and Hiller Dr. Two of these resulted in the victim being taken to the hospital by ambulance. While there may have been other factors contributing to these crashes, the rutted and deteriorating condition of the pavement on Tunnel Rd was the major factor.

All of Tunnel Road is included in the new paving plan but not until 2025-26, and only assuming Measure U passes in November to pay for it.

I recommend contacting your city council members to ask for the street can be moved up in the paving schedule. More lawsuit settlements after crashes could cost the city far more than even the very high amount to resurface the roadway.
