Stormwater Management has determined this is a naturally occurring algae bloom and not a sewer leak. The only remedy for the appearance and odor is time. Also it's important to note the lake is owned by Wake County and the City has no jurisdiction over the lake; the City does maintain the trail around the lake and the adjacent park property.
Why is it a City park if you have no jurisdiction over the lake? And doesn't the City Government communicate with Wake County government? Dead fish and animals are going to pollute the lake and make the odor ecen worse. If the City of Raleigh maintains the walkway around the lake and wants its citizens to use it, City Government should contact the County and get them to clear dead fish and animals from the lake and really do something about this problem. Otherwise, it is a waste of City Taxes to maintain an unused walkway. I have lived here 26 years and have never seen it like this or noticed such an overwhelming odor! Who made the determination that it was just an algae bloom?
