Here's a photo I took during a ride last weekend showing one of the steel plates on one of the newest bridges down south of Hawk Island Park close to Jolly Rd.

I will pass this on to the superintendent. The Rivertrail does get salted and plowed along with all other City sidewalks, but people using the trail should always use caution in wet or snowy conditions.

Per the Grounds Maintenance manager and the building maintenance supervisor, materials are being tested to see what will work on these areas. It will be a minimum of six weeks before their tests are complete. If an appropriate material is identified, it will be up to the Parks Department to decide to install it and provide funding.

All the steel plates remain unchanged. Seems like some anti-slip surface could be applied to them fairly easily and inexpensively.

Most of the plates on the southern trail extension from the Aurelius Rd. area through Hawk Island have been replaced w/ non-slip surface plates as of the last time I rode that section, but the main/ older River Trail bridges still all have the steel plates as of this past Friday evening. One of the steel plates for one of the ped. bridges under a railroad bridge between Aurelius and the eastern end near campus has only 1 bolt holding it in place; the rest of the plate has become completely loose and is quite dangerous.

The plates all had non-slip material the last time I rode the trail. Thanks!
