The constant flooding here creates a haven for mosquitos, a huge health problem during the summer months.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Could you please provide me where abouts between Cedar and Willow the asphalt is crumbled so I can notify DPW.

The whole block is pretty uniformly bad, unfortunately. I don't think DPW will be able to address this with just patching.

The drainage issues along this segment definitely contribute to the early disintegration of the asphalt surface.

I guess if I had to pick two worst sections, they'd be:
* Halfway between Lexington Park and Willow
* Halfway between Cedar and Lexington Park

The puddling is worst:
• at the Willow end, near the Chicken coop, across both sides of the path, into the mud.
• then nearer the playground (but just past it), on the playground side, the puddle becomes about half a block long in wet weather and floods that side of the path.

Patching probably wont work. Since the flooding means the whole path is too low to keep the flooding at bay.

+1 to what redheadGrrlie said. Ideally the city would not only replace the road surface, but bring in new (clean) fill to raise the road surface out of the puddle.

Thanks for looking into this. I walk this path daily and really appreciate it.

From the perspective of beginning at Cedar St and heading east, the flooding occurs on the left side about 20 yards before the intersection with Highland Rd and the playground. About 50 yards after the playground, there is also large flooding on the left side. About 25 yards after that, or about 25 yards before Willow Ave, there is flooding on both sides. This occurs every time there is more than an inch of rain.

The best way to know exactly where this occurs is to simply come out and take a look; the large puddles usually remain for several days after a rain fall. I'll snap some pictures and upload next time it rains (looks like this weekend).

So this was in May. Nothing has been done so far. The path is still continuing to crumble and let standing water linger.

Puddle after 2 days of rain. This will surely be much bigger tomorrow. Just an example, there are other puddles like this that form and intrude onto the path.

Typical large puddle after a few days of rain by the playground. During the rain, it was even bigger spanning across the entire path. This is a draining issue and needs to be addressed.

Whomever in Somerville needs to get the repair work approved by the MBTA - PLEASE DO SO.
This has been a noted problem in this forum since May of this year - with no movement on it.
