Patti, thanks. I have actually spoken in person (as have many others) to the Hyattsville Public Works department. Unfortunately, this is a problem that PG County is responsible for fixing. They have been contacted many times, but for whatever reason, they are not interested in solving this issue. All we can do at this point is encourage a fix through as many channels as possible. Perhaps this spring, PG County will decided to, finally, solve this problem.

Oh no, a county issue! I've reported on http://countyclick.princegeorgescountymd.gov/ many times and usually got a super delayed response that was very unhelpful/confusing/passing the buck.

This was finally addressed in what appears to be a temp fashion for the winter.
