This was also reported to VPD as an abandoned vehicle report. I believe it is the case that VPD handles abandoned vehicles on City-owned property, which this parking lot is. Is this correct?

Chris - Code Enforcement will look at this issue to see if there is any action they can possibly take on it. If they can't, then VPD will have to cite and remove the car.

I had reported another vehicle that had been sitting right next to this one for many months--maybe a year--on VPD abandoned vehicle report, but nothing was done about it until I notified CSS with a photo. I was then told that VPD would be handling it since it is a City-owned parking lot, though there was some initial confusion about that. All I know is that the vehicle was removed recently.

This thing about abandoned vehicles is confusing. It seems to be more like illegal dumping than a traffic enforcement issue--a pile of junk is a pile of junk. Given constraints with VPD, keeping this kind of thing out of their hands seems to be a notion to consider.
