Isn't there anything that can be done to deter whoever is continuing to use this area as a dumping ground for their unwanted items. It is getting worse and worse as time goes on...

Sounds like a Neighborhood Watch group is needed... We formed one in our neighborhood and things have improved. Not saying it's the best in the world, just that is is much better. Calling each other when something odd is going on and stepping out on your porches at the same time says it all right there... People will feel all the eyes on them. Nothing has to be said at that point.

I like that idea, however, this dumping area is at the bottom of a hill (with apartments at the top) and apartments across the street. I don't live in either of these apartments buildings, I live at the end of the street in the condos, so we can't see this dumping area from our homes, we can only see it when we drive to and from our homes. The dumping ground at the end of our street gets watched by the folks who live in the condos nearby and I believe I recall someone saying a camera had been installed down there somewhere. But the area that is being called out here is horrible and once things get cleaned up, someone else comes and dumps more stuff...it's a never ending cycle.

Thank you for reporting! Public Works has one full-time Maintenance worker whose sole job is to respond to illegal dumping reports throughout the City. This person usually makes 2 or more trips to the dump everyday, with each load weighing in around 1,200 pounds. We strive to respond to all reports in a timely fashion. If you see someone dumping illegally please report the incident to the Vallejo Police Department.

Motion detector bright LED lights. Set them up to flash like cameras at different angles. One going off sets the rest off...
Sad part is that with all the apartments, it is most likely people moving out getting rid of what they don't want to drag along with them... Get the apartment managment involved as well. A little note from them to the people moving out warning them that x,y,z has been set up and the fine is __. Don't dump there or you'll get caught...

The motion detector LED lights REALLY sound good! Great idea!! Seems like the city would have an interest working on a program that works with apartment building owners/managers to do something like you've (Woodside Watch) described as it would save the city loads of money in the long run....I wonder if this is something the City of Vallejo would be interested in looking into or is it something the City is already doing??

I witnessed a little Afrcan American boy carrying a large cushion to dump there Fri From the gated apartments across the street. This happens much too often. I would like to be part of a solution to help this community become a part of a better Vallejo.

Does anyone have access the club house for a neighborhood meeting? Maybe neighbors could first gather signatures to have a dumpster placed on the block, then brainstorm as to what the priorities are to improve area.

Vince & other grounds people...you have absolutely NOT cleaned up all the dumping on Kathy Ellen Dr. That is shown in the picture on thie post!!! I just drove by and EVERYTHING is still there, just like the picture!!.

Regarding Huge Mess posting should not be closed all the piles of cushions broken glass broken TV and broken furniture are still on sidewalk and in street.

Cynthia - I know what you mean...I called Vince out on that stuff too and he returned my phone call and explained to me all the intricacies of City of Vallejo ordinances...the problem here being that if the trash, furniture and stuff is on someone's property, then the city cannot pick it up! The property owner is responsible and the city does go after them to clean up their property. The city can ONLY clean up stuff when it is on the sidewalk/street. And the problem here is that all that stuff that is left over there is on the apartment building's property, therefore the city cannot pick it up! If you look closely, that stuff is mostly on the dirt (the upper side of the sidewalk), which makes it the property owners problem, not the City of Vallejo. And as time goes by the kids in the area are throwing that stuff around and in the street. Sounds crazy to me too, but that is how it works, I'm told!

This same Garbage is STILL sitting here almost one month later, inviting all who drive down this street to dump more and more junk. The cul de sac is now strewn with EVEN MORE large trash, but that's OK apparently. C'mon Vallejo!

Although this issue is far from "fixed" I took the opportunity to say thanks for the effort and please keep trying to get this errant owner to comply.
