We need the sidewalk issue to be addressed as well as some traffic-calming measures taken on Waters Road. Ever since they addressed Buice Road, we have taken the brunt of cut through traffic from commuters traveling to and from Gwinnett County and other places and people fly down this road. The neighborhoods that feed off this road produce a lot of walkers/runners and bicyclists, especially children.

Council allocated funds to fill in the gaps along the west side of Waters. The middle gap (over Long Indian Creek) is supposed to be constructed as part of the Waters Chase Subdivision.

The City of Alpharetta has resolved this issue.

Thanks for the response, but I think we need some more info before closing this out.

1) What is the schedule for completing this new segment? Waters Chase has been stalled for a few months and I don't see any sidewalk construction.

2) Will this complete the entire west side sidewalk between Jones Bridge and Kimball Bridge? If not, when will the other segments be completed?

3) What about east side neighborhoods? When will the east side be completed? What is the safety plan for east side neighborhoods crossing Waters?

There should be AT MINIMUM a crosswalk somewhere in the middle of Waters Road until both sides of the street are completed. This is really a dangerous situation for people trying to cross this road. This goes hand-in-hand with needing to drop the speed on this road to 30 MPH and adding some traffic calming measures on Waters Road. Additional police monitoring would be helpful to keep these speeders down.

Thank you for the follow-up inquiry. Q1: City Staff is currently designing the sidewalk improvements and construction should start Spring 2016.

Q2: Yes. City plans to start construction in Spring 2016; no current timeline on the pedestrian bridge that will be installed by the developer.

Q3: The City’s present plan is to install sidewalks on one side of non-subdivision street. Currently there isn’t a time table for the east side of Waters. City staff is evaluating options for safe pedestrian crossings along Waters.
