Sounds like you experienced a true nightmare. You should call Public Works. This isn't something minor.

Thanks for your comment. I did call public works, they said it is not their issue. I left a message yesterday and will follow up today and try to explain that I am solely looking for them to open up the man hole and investigate their sewer lines for clogs. This could get expensive for the city if they do not address this now (further damage to their lines, insurance claims, lawsuits, etc).

I paid to have my line snaked, and the professional agrees that there is no possibility that it is my fault that the city sewer line pressurized into my house.

If you hooked up to GNHWPA sewer system, which I think you are - call them. NOT THE CITY. 203-466-5260

If you hooked up to the city storm drains, you got big issues coming - cause you being hooked up to a storm drain is a big no-no.

I am a homeowner around the corner from you (off Lowin Ave). We were having chronic backups a while back, and each time it happened I called GNHWPCA (Greater NH Water Pollution Control Auth). They are the ones responsible for the sewer lines. They have since done an extensive cleaning of the lines in the area (Lowin /Judwin), which seems to have addressed the issue at least for now. I would recommend contacting them. Phone: 203-466-5280. Sewer emergency line: 203-466-5260. They paid to clean and sanitize my basement, where the backup occurred.

The Greater New Haven WPCA owns and maintains the Sanitary Sewer System within the City of New and does not use SeeClickFix for a reporting tool. There is a 24 hour emergency number 203.466-5263
We were made aware of this report the evening of April 5, 2016 The GNHWPCA has no reports of issues in this area from April 3rd.

I did see that the drain cleaning service cleared this lateral from the property and no other neighbors had reported issues in this area to the GNHWPCA.

This morning the GNHWPCA dispatched a crew to the area in order to investigate and clean the mains within the area of Fountain St. and Maplewood Rd. The GNHWPCA mains did not show signs of a backup or debris which would have caused our system to surcharge.

BJG - despite potentially intensely disagreeing with someone, you can still be grateful that they took the time to log on to a system they don't use to acknowledge the post and engage.

Hmm.. the post "Thanks for fixing the issue!" was an auto post, caused by me clicking thanks.

I do not think the issue is fixed, but maybe it was a temporary clog in the city system. I am thankful that I got a response and that they sent a crew to investigate.

If indeed my house was plumbed into the city sewer lines (storm drains), that was done by the previous owner/contractor and I am looking into this possibility.

I will keep an eye on this since I am brand new to this area and just moved into my home, so I do not know the history here.

Jmo, especially since you're new to the area, I would suggest you contact an attorney if you need to fight the issue with GNHWPCA.
