This program all over the city has made a mess of the roads and is unsightly with the constant repainting. Why would any city take a two lane road and make it a one lane road by painting bike lanes?
What a mess and waste of public dollars.

If parking on this street is allowed and is that heavily used, then why isn't the bike lane on the outside of the parking lane like in other parts of the city (downtown, for example)? I just don't understand why money was wasted on painting lines on the street when they can't be utilized. If these cars are people working at nearby businesses, why aren't those businesses providing parking for their employees? Nearly the entire length of the bike lane is occupied all day long. I appreciate that there is a bike lane there because people driving cars in this town have no idea how to deal with bikes and this area is incredibly unfriendly to bike traffic so having this lane is, I believe, a good thing. However, I don't understand how it is supposed to be used for its intended purpose if it is completely blocked with parked cars. I don't really feel that my question has been answered.
@Kate: Isn't this just a temporary minor inconvenience for a long-term good for the neighborhood and community? I assume the construction has made parking unavailable within the North Hills properties since they seem to be building all over that property.
