It's out of hand. Full of people screaming at the world, trash everywhere. Vallejo PD needs to bring country services with them and get these squatters the help they need. Forget trying to get the property owners to clean it up, it's a public safety issue.

On 01/31/18, CSS Partnered with Solano County Outreach Services and multiple people were offered several services.

We will return to this location in the very near future to continue our effort to clear this area.

The encampment is getting larger, and people are now defecating in the end of Maxwell Alley. Garbage is also accumulating there. When will this be removed??

At this point this is a serious public health and quality of life issue for nearby residents. These conditions warrant immediate intervention.

First reported here 6 weeks ago. For at least 6 weeks, city staff have known about this gross outrage to civil order, public safety, and health, and have been unable to fix it. If City Council isn't taking emergency action now, then when?

Last Thursday employees of the railroad company, Code Enforcement and the Community Services Department met with a contractor hired by the railroad company to clean up the track. They are determining a date to start the clean up. I will update you once they have determined a date to start cleaning up the tracks.

The Railroad has scheduled clean up to begin this Wednesday. They will be starting their clean up at BW Williams track where there are over 30 encampments and will work their way down to Florida @ Amador.

Cleanup was supposed to begin last week, and the encampment near Florida St has only grown larger. When can we expect to see this cleared?

The Vallejo Police Departments Community Service Section will be going into the encampments on the railroad tracks today offering resources. The Railroad still has not scheduled a clean up for this section of the tracks, we are waiting on a scheduled date to assist them in the clean up.

According to your comment on 02/26, cleanup was supposed to begin on 02/28, but NOW you're saying it hasn't even been scheduled?? Which is it? This encampment is growing larger, and it's occupants are beginning to break into buildings and homes surrounding it. WHEN WILL THIS BE CLEANED UP?

Glenn the Railroad decided to start their clean up on Lewis Brown section of their tracks which had over 30 encampments. They will be moving their way down the tracks from there in sections. They have let us know the next section they plan to schedule is behind Kaiser at Sereno @ Broadway. Feel free to contact them directly for updates or to have your concerns heard. Well, it hasn't been fixed. And now the people are stealing from residents in the area. (Electricity, property out of yards...) It just gets worse and no one, not the railroad, not the city, cares about the people who live here.

Yup. And still growing. And the City and Railroad don’t care. They will clean up near pot stores and the hospital, but they ignore the residents who are affected most by this.

Called and emailed the two contacts for CNR, and asked for a projected timeline of completion and how much this clean up is costing them. Will be asking the City Manager the same, but that's going to take a walk in visit to City Hall. Then maybe we can compare costs of prevention and enforcement -vs- after the fact clean up.

Actually there was a meeting between the city and the Railroad regarding this problem, RR had a start date of a few weeks ago stating they will start with the area behind the liquor store/Kaiser and work their way down.
The problem here is, that end is not directly affecting residents as it is down here by us. By the time they get here it will have become even more out of control, and it's unsanitary for residents/kids.

I guess I should have read above, what I said is already stated.....

Ms. Hart's comment was worth repeating. Telling us that work has started at the opposite side of town, doesn't keep our kids safe here.

CNR doesn't answer phone calls or voicemails or emails. This is nonsense, saying there is NOTHING the City of Vallejo can do. So we need to call the Federal Government now? Promises were made to deal with this. Your impotence on this issue is flabbergasting. Does this mean that you have washed your hands of the problem and no further action will be taken,? If that is the case, perhaps bringing a lawsuit to the Rail Road is possible?

I live on Kentucky and this is both unacceptable AND disgusting! Please find a humane way to relocate these folk elsewhere.

Since the city and the railroad won’t do anything about it, I guess it’s time for the neighborhood to form a Boot Squad and go blow torch all the rats and trash living on the tracks with a flame thrower...

This is beginning to encroach on surrounding homes and the community center. There is also a building they have broken into numerous times. The city is threatening to fine the building owners, but they won't do anything to clean up the mess that's causing it. When is the next city council meeting? Perhaps we need to all show up and remind the council that they work for us!!

This encampment has grown to a small city. Can't the City make an agreement with the RR to enforce their no trespassing policy? They could prevent these from growing if VPD could cite people and offer services, along with County personnel. They could move more quickly on this than the RR.

Starting to wish there was a central point for the Rail Road/homeless encampment issue, here’s a brief rundown of what’s going on.
The railroad finally responded and sent an email out, so we have now had communication with CNR. I also spoke with Michelle at the City Managers Office and she assured me that the City is not dropping the issue. The City attorney has options if negotiations with the Rail Road continue to fail. Now that CNR has been pelted with questions and complaints, it seems they are responding again. For the railroad to evict these people they need to coordinate with the Police Department & County Services. This takes coordination - which neither the railroad or our city seem to be very proficient at.
In the meantime, there are many locations on the Railroad’s property that are not homeless encampments and just dumping grounds. Those must be dealt with promptly. So continue to campaign by calling or emailing the railroad and the City Manager and city council members.

Artsem, please post the CNR email to which we can send complaints/inquireries.

Here I have been patiently waiting for the so-called cleanup to finally reach us at this end, only to read that nothing is happening still??
