This house caught fire over a year ago and has been in this condition; scorched, boarded up, and abandoned ever since. What is being done to either rehab or demo the building? It sits on the corner of chapel and Sherman, a prominent and important gateway to our community. I'd love to see this property fixed up and rented out or transformed into something useful, right now it's an eyesore and a liability.

I agree. The property will only deteriorate more over time. This is owned by Pike. The big NY consortiums buy up property,make a show of fixing it up and then let things go to pot unless tenants and or neighbors complain.It should not take so long to get the bldg fixed. Insurance has probably been long paid. This is a blight on the neighborhood.

I've complained to LCI about it but they insist that the City's "building inspector" says it's fine.

This is one more reason why the City of New Haven needs to reenact redevelopment plans for each neighborhood. Perhaps a new developer can bring this property back online.

LCI/ Dwight please keep us posted on the timeline, this continues to be an eyesore. I hope, as others have said, that a new developer will have the chance to rebuild on the lot. What’s. Out the Yale home building program? This would be a great cornerstone location!

It’s been nearly 3 months since the last update on here and the property at the corner of chapel and Sherman is still (barely) standing. Someone sprayed “demo” on the door and as far as I can tell this has been the only progress in months. When is demolition going to begin and what is the redevelopment plan for the lot? Thanks!
