Attached is sequence of photos I used for an MNCPPC Envision meeting. I thought it wise to bring this to you attention:

In slides 5-16 we can see that the Maryland State "Highway" Administration's number 1 priority is highways not safe, effective road transportation for all - motor vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.

My question to you is about these SHA American Recovery Act Guard Rails that have a total disregard for bus stops and pedestrians on Rt 193. I saw them being put up in haste. No information about their installation provided to the public. They were just installed with little or no planning - on an overnight basis covering about 2-3 weeks.

It is my opinion that pedestrian safety features should be included with every SHA/Recovery act investment - or it is not encompassing transportation - just highways. This is just the tip of the iceberg (I have many, many other incidents of bad choices that I have made an effort on in the past for changes on) - but this one, so stupid - I thought should be brought to your attention.

The overall question is this:

Why can't our Maryland SHA be more mindful of what they do and how it effects the lifestyles of the people who must take the blunt ignorance of their choices that turn our communities into highways instead of livable, walkable effective roads and highways of travel that meet and consider the multiple use needs of the communities they are built and used in?
