Today 2/19/14 was trash day on Hobart St and the street was not touched by a plow....The only person that parked on the odd side between Whalley and Elm was a visiting nurse who's SUV bumper was badly damaged by an evading driver or stuck on a snow bank ( not sure but PD arrived to do a report) and one other lone car that still sits snow covered near Elm St .
There is limited on street parking because the even side is filled with snow as well. People are claiming the few spaces with trash cans that they didn't even shovel out to begin with. It's ridiculous out here.
My sidewalk, which has been the subject of PW complaint for the last 18 years is now a lake and people have approximately 4 inches of a clear path walking past my house because the thaw will not flow to the drains mid block because of the snow in the street.
When it freezes again should I offer ice skates?
Since my sidewalk won't be repaired until the Springtime of my death can the city PLEASE plow the street so the water can flow to the sewer drains before someone drowns in front of my house!!!

Winter>>>Freeze Chop Melt Freeze Chop Melt. Spring >>>watch the birds bathe in the lake in front of my house.
This is Mayor Harps first winter at the helm and I do not blame all the way to the top. This has been going on for years. The PW drivers have been asked to do a taxing task with assuredly subpar equipment, no cooperation from the residents of this city and no accountability to do a thorough job.The state of our city has always been shameful after a storm.
Here's an idea, "Snow/Ice storm is coming expect delays and closures move your cars to the even side of the street". If the school day is expected to be interrupted by inclement weather then the parking ban should be implemented. Stop asking politely after the snow and ice has fallen for people to move their cars.
Now we have a catch up farce..The city has put forth a great effort, to have people comply with trash day snow plowing, with electronic signs on major thoroughfares, robo calls, news media etc. and many are heeding the order to move the cars yet there is still inaction. Great idea but with no follow through people are just reclaiming the empty parking spaces.
