Sidewalks Archived230 Fayetteville Street Raleigh, NC 27601, USA - CentralSo loud. So very, very loud. The amp just gets bigger and bigger. I know there's no will at the city to do anything about this. I'm beginning to think that this block of Fayetteville St is some sort of libertarian/anarchist civic experiment.

After Hours / Critical Issues Archived221-223 Fayetteville Street Raleigh, NC 27601, USA - CentralNoise ordinance violation record shattered! It's almost 12:30am and the keyboard guy outside Bolt is still jamming at top volume. Called the police twice. Can he make it to last call at Coglins? We'll see!

Garbage / Recycling / Yard Waste Archived2-98 Exchange Plaza Raleigh, NC 27601, USA - CentralFayetteville Street just needs a plain, old fashioned anti-littering campaign. The level of trash down here is really unlike anything I've seen in any other large city center in America. Two "no-littering" signs with fines posted on either side of the block might start making a dent.

Market Plaza is a Disaster Archived230 Fayetteville Street Raleigh, NC 27601, USA - CentralWhile 227 Fayetteville Street is being remodeled, Market Plaza and the sidewalk in front are magnets for loitering. Last night there was a street brawl. Tonight, the same crew is out, about 15 people at various states of inebriation. They generate a huge amount of litter. Here's one suggestion for the city: pull up the benches around this property as long as it's vacant. And send a cop around every night after dark, on the hour.
