Many intersections in New Britain do not have the "arrows" painted on the road for lane designations, like the main intersection at Farmington avenue and Alexander road. It is hazardous at times because many "drivers" dont read the signs posted and just use which ever lane they feel like or that is empty.
I am reposting this because it is apparent that the mayor of N. B. and/or staff DOES monitor this site. I tried contacting public works about the problem and was given another department to call that do not answer their phones.

I used the Farmington Ave intersection as an example but driving around New Britain the other day, I was able to count on one hand(and have fingers left over) the intersections in which the roads were properly marked and painted. Also, many of the roads that were repaved over a year ago have no centerlines painted on them. I know the times are tough and the city budget is tight but I think these are safety issues that should be addressed by the Mayor and the city officials.

I have contacted Public Works and was given a number to another department which does not answer their phones nor have voice mail option. The former mayor and some of the city officials have commented on other posts on this site before. It has been a long time issue and dangerous at times with people using the improper lanes and cutting others off, etc. And no matter who I contact, I seem to get the run-a-round as if no one cares.

The Farmington Avenue intersection has finally had the lane marked but there are many more including many main intersections that still have to be done. Unfortunately there are quite a few "drivers" that ignore the signs posted and if the roads are not painted with the designation arrows they use which ever lane is open cutting off other drivers either next to them or coming toward them. This is very dangerous to all including the courteous law abiding drivers.

I have noticed that the City is in the process of painting the lines and road markers on some of the main roads and intersections which is a good thing. Getting the irresponsible and careless drivers to follow them and drive safely is another story.

Most of the major roads and intersections have been done this year, I hope it will make the drivers more vigilant and drive safer.
