The City believes that this issue is primarily one of enforcement and has advised our Department of Public Safety of the problem.

Our experience with other intersections around Alpharetta has proven that additional signage or traffic control devices have little, if any, impact on discouraging the behavior described. In fact, previous efforts at managing this specific intersection using traffic control devices extending further down Kimball Bridge Road had no appreciable impact and were ultimately removed due to motorists simply driving over them. That being said, we continue to explore options that balance traffic management, safety, cost, and aesthetic design.

I know that's not true. I've been crossing this intersection for years and the white posts have not extended beyond where they are now. I also know it works in Roswell where Sandy Plains Road turns right onto Crossville Road. This looks like a brush off from City of Alpharetta.

If you honestly believe people simply drove over the white posts deliberately damaging their cars, there is nothing I can say. Accurate is a clogged up intersection with no solution being worked on. Accurate is the fire truck I saw two weeks ago that couldn't get through, same with the following police car.

I see the extended posts also works quite well at the corner of Sargent Road and McGinnis Ferry roads. I'Il be sure to point out examples in addition to the two I've noted where extending the posts further down the lane works to control traffic.

Here are more intersections where extending the posts works. I know Kimball Bridge/ North Point Parkway is some weird vortex where the posts don't work, but I thought I would post this anyway:

The City is currently engaged in a public process to plan improvements to the Kimball Bridge Road Corridor, including the subject intersection. They did add a few posts, even that little bit helped some as I knew it would. More would have been better but I'll take what I can get. Doesn't look like anyone has run them over yet. The links to the proposed concepts don't seem to work.
