I don't think it violates anything, but I agree that it looks like crap. We really needed yet another convenience mart to sell cigarettes, alcohol, and junk food to the poor and homeless community near, too. I wish the City would do something about that with zoning, like only allowing so many per area.

I have a number of friends with small businesses here in Raleigh and they are constantly told that there are restrictions on outside signs (you can apparently put stuff on the inside of business windows but you can't hang or put out signs without following guidelines). While I don't agree with the restrictions, if they have them then the city needs to enforce equitably.

cigarette posters all over a rundown liittle junk store right between the downtown and the nicest historic residential district is just nasty. not mention not legal.

Our inspector visited 100 N Person Street/Midway Minimart and issued a field Notice of Violation for the display of portable signs and banners. Their deadline date of compliance is set for 01/07/13, either by removing all prohibited signage or securing a temporary sign permit. The Historic Development Commission has also issued a letter to the property owner for having done work without a Certificate of Appropriateness.
