Non-illuminating street light at the intersection of Derby Lane @ Kelsie Lane. The light has been out for over 12 Months +/-. This presents a serious & dangerous situation for both traffic & pedestrains since most vehicles do not stop at the intersection as instructed.

Thanks for reporting, and thanks, DeSoto, for responding so quickly. Can you post again once it's repaired?
Thanks!

Hi Bernie,
I'm emailing my contact at Oncor right now to see what the status is. Some repairs take longer than others. A simple bulb replacement can be done in a day or two. If there's an issue with underground wiring, it can take longer.
Let me see what 's going on.
Thanks!
Holly

Bernie, DeSoto,
Oncor reports that a repair request was received and the photocell and lamp were replaced on Jan. 12.
My contact is sending someone out to check the light today. Hopefully it will be working today.
Thanks!
Holly

Thank you for the courteousness of following-up. I assure you we understand the mechanics of Street Lamp Replacement. However, the real issue here, is the lack of an initial professional response from the Desoto city personnel. Judging from the lack of responses to other Desoto issues noted under the SeeClickFix banner, there appears to be a severe lack of knowledgeable professional supervision here regarding accurate timely responses to issues that directly effect the lives of Desoto Citizens. Hopefully, this reminder will aid city personnel in stepping up their game and recall the individual action required by each to remain an All-American City.

I apologize if the initial response seemed flippant. We do take all issues seriously and this one is no exception. I can tell you that the response time to change a light is typically two weeks or less. Oncor is the electric company and they own the lights. They will notify when a repair has been completed, but do not provide a schedule. They have hundreds of thousands of poles in the area, not just in DeSoto, so they are constantly working on changing light bulbs across the metroplex.
As for the four issues on this site (the two on Worthington are the same thing), all have been reported and fixed in a timely manner in our official issue management software, available on our website and also as an iPhone or Android app. We will try to show a better response on this site in the future.

Holly,
I am pleased to report that the Street Lamp Replacement at the intersection of DERBY LANE @ KELSIE LANE has been repaired. However, the repair did not take place at the location, date & time as reported to you or the City of Desoto.
I coincidentally met the Oncor subcontractor's electrical technician, Artemio Velazquez, Friday, 22Feb2013 @ 1:30PM+/-, completing the actual repairs at the correct location. Apparently, there were other non-operating street lamps in the community that required repairing and the initial technician dispatched to perform the repairs chose at random one of the other street lamps nearby. Difficult to understand since the correct address and location w/ map was clearly stated in the initial notification. The vehicle observed was also fully equipped for telecommunication, data & high rise repairs as reported.
As previously noted, City of Desoto supervisors must follow-up on these reports to assure contract services are accurate as reported. I encourage all Desoto citizens in the surrounding community to use the SeeClickFix program. A quote borrowed from a former Dallas newspaper columnist, Joe Bob Briggs, 'We must remain ever vigilant'.
Thanks!
Bernie

Please refer to prior responses.
Desoto officials/personnel should not be placed in the position of providing excuses for service contractors or the contract services provided for areas of the metroplex other than the Desoto community.
Apologies not required. Only true supervision of contract services and accurate responses to inquires.
However, I do not wish to be rude or take you to task personally.
Thanks,
Bernie
