If it's alright with the people living there, there is space for a bike rack in front of a home on the east side of Mansfield, across from Compton St. (See photo).

That would be great. I think Yale owns the house, though.
There are currently no bike racks for the public on this street, which is strange given the large student population here. Many students have visitors and they are obligated to lock their bikes to street sign posts. Street sign poles are frequently removed by bicycle thieves.
Installing public racks along Mansfield Street would be a good solution to this problem. Locations should also be scouted on Winchester Avenue.

Apparently this is one of the few properties on Mansfield St that Yale does not own. I'm told that the University is in the process of securing funds to install a number of new bike racks around campus. It sounds like they might be interested in installing a rack at one of their properties somewhere in this area.
I'm also told that the University will install new racks near Ingalls Rink.

What can we do to get racks on this street?
Bikes keep getting stolen because, thanks to the fact Yale is the landlord and doesn't seem to have an interest in racks, there's simply no secure place to put them anywhere within several blocks!

This area badly needs bike racks. Signs are often unbolted in order to steal bikes.
There is a missing sign on Sachem near the hockey rink. If someone tripped and fell on it, they could be impaled and killed by the stub.
