Thank you for reporting the site to the Town. We will be dispatching our inspector to the site to evaluate the sidewalk. Please allow us up to two weeks to conduct the inspection.

The Town currently repairs sidewalks based on the roads with the oldest complaints. Once we get to a street, we attempt to repair all sidewalk problems on the street. We are currently working on streets with complaints from 2007 and are about to begin 2008 streets. Based on current funding, the current situation, and given your street is a 2008 street, we do not have a good estimate on when the repair will be conducted.

Just so the Town is on notice as there is a group of individuals who take a commuter bus to Hartford every day - they park on the Norris Street and walk on that portion of the sidewalk to stand at driveway next door. I've suggested the group park in the public lot at Spring Glen church - I was told they were advised by the Town of Hamden they could not for liability reasons. I ensure every day there is no debris; I maintain as best I can in the winter shoveling; salting and sanding sidewalk in a safe condition - if someone falls and is injured and sues me, I intend to make my efforts known. As I advised the very helpful individual in the engineering department - the department DPW told me to contact, the 3rd or 4th repaving of Norris last month, resulted in your contractor completely taking out a portion of the front curb at 34 Norris.

We have determined that the sidewalk, walkout, and driveway apron do need to be repaired/replaced. Based on current funding, we do not have a good estimate on when the replacement will be conducted. The site has been added to our master list for repairs.
