Progression is based on traffic volumes and direction. The downtown grid system has the Dawson / McDowell pairs being the prominent progressed pair based on traffic volume and north – south direction. The secondary pair would be Morgan / New Bern and Edenton / Hillsborough for the east and west directions. The remaining downtown grid streets are then progressed north – south, except where they intersect the primary pairs. Based on the offset timings for these traffic signals and the section of St Mary’s being located between two primary through streets, the City of Raleigh will look into adjusting these timings, but can’t be certain it will work.
