ONCE AGAIN THIS ISSUE WAS CLOSED BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED!
I opened a report and updated it several times for a traffic light issue at the intersection of Cary Parkway and Harrison Ave. The issue was that the light for Northbound traffic on Harrison was green for only 35 seconds, thus traffic backed up on Harrison and at the intersection of Harrison and Reedy Creek Road. The problem appeared to have been fixed as the "green" time was extended to over a minute. Now, as of 3/17/17, the light for Northbound traffic is green only 35 seconds, which is enough time for 12-15 cars to get through when there are 45-50 waiting, including once again the North bound traffic on Ready Creek Road..
My question is "why was the original ticket closed again"? I no longer see it on this website so presume it has been closed & archived. Note that "I" did not close the ticket. Your organization claimed the issue was fixed at least 3 times now...
Lastly, on your web site, when an issue is reported, the only "Category" that can be selected is "Post to Neighbors". What good does this do? Neighbors in the are already know this is an issue! I do not get it...

Good morning,
What time of day are you noticing the problem? I would assume it's during the AM peak due to that's when the northbound approach is the heaviest. We run several different timing plans at this intersection and want to make sure I'm investigating the correct one. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Good morning,
We are aware of the issue at this intersection but the fix is not as easy as giving Harrison Ave more time. There is a camera at this intersection and we can monitor it from the Traffic Management Center and have tried several adjustments in the past to try to help alleviate this issue. First let me say you are correct with the green times you reported with the Reedy Creek and Cary Pkwy signals but we run the same cycle length at both intersections. The main problem with Cary Pkwy signal is Cary Academy and more specifically the SB left turn. The school starts at 8am therefore most parents are dropping the kids off during the AM peak traffic times and using all the time programmed for that SB left turn. We are also dealing with parents using Cary Pkwy going through Harrison Ave into Cary Academy. The way the signal operates is if the time that is programmed for that SB left turn or EB through movement is not used, then that time goes back to the main street (Harrison Ave). The Reedy Creek signal usually does not use all it’s time for Reedy Creek and gives the extra time back to Harrison Ave. We know this is a consistent 15 minute problem during the AM while school is in session. If you’d like more information or have any questions you can contract myself at 919-581-5094 (Bryan.Hayes@townofcary.org) or the signal timing engineer, Wesley Vo at 919-460-3148 (Wesley.Vo@townofcary.org).
Thanks,
